Cancer Pancreas - death of a friend this week

Only the good die young! It's a statement that is the truth. I have lost a lot of friends over the years through death. I must say it is the hardest thing to say good bye to good friends, Cancer is a terrible disease. It has no mercy and it changes many lives in a second.

I would like to tell you about my friend Norah Adams. She past away this week from pancreas cancer. She was a Pastor at Liberty Church Gosford, she has a wonderful family and they all touch many lives daily. Norah worked at Gosford Base hospital and helped me a great deal through my own battle.

The start, 3 years ago Simone a great friend of mine took me to Liberty Church when I was diagnosed with my second cancer. She took me there every Sunday and Norah started to do a healing prayer for me. We became great friends and she became a really amazing support. Liberty Church is run by Kim and Tim Jones they are amazing and give food to the homeless and orphanages. While I had no income they provided some groceries to my house weekly and this was delivered by Norah.

Norah came to my house and became friends with my 3 boys, she cooked meals for us when I was sick and dropped off my kids desserts and treats as well as phoning me and taking me for coffee. She did my ironing and bought me gifts. When I had the chemotherapy she never missed coming to say hi with a great big hug and smile and a present. You know the value of good friends by there actions. Love is shown in so many ways. But actions always speak louder than words...

I just wanted to say to Norah, you will be never be forgotten you have touched my life in so many ways. My love goes to your family and you will always be in my heart. My life is better for having you in it.

"Hard nipples" - areola or nipple skin

Mastectomy Drain Breast Cancer Treatment

The purpose of drains after mastectomy is to drain away the fluid that can gather in the armpit region or around the scar on the chest wall. Some people after mastectomy also find that fluid gathers around the shoulder blade area on their back - this seems more common if the muscle from the back has been used for breast reconstruction at the time the mastectomy was done. When mastectomy is done - and especially if the lymph nodes are removed from the axilla or armpit - then there is a lot of tissue fluid and lymph fluid left with no where to go. This fluid normally flows through the lymph channels but if they are cut then it can escape into the normal skin and muscle tissues. Your surgeon will place drains under your skin after mastectomy.
