I passed this funeral, packed with camera's and people. Bryce was amazing!
A WHEELBARROW full of organic vegetables and a portrait of Bryce Courtenay clutching a teddy bear celebrated the much loved Australian author's off-beat nature at his private funeral on Wednesday.
While there was no state funeral for the iconic writer, Prime Minister Julia Gillard made an appearance.
Heavy security surrounded Sydney's St Mark's Church as she was ushered through the back door.
Courtenay penned 21 bestselling novels including the Power of One, the Potato Factory and April Fools Day - a tribute to this late son Damon.
He died of stomach cancer on November 22, aged 79.
