Australian actor Penny Cook, best known for her long-running role in A Country Practice, has died at the age of 61.
The death of the actor, who won multiple Logies and most recently appeared in the ABC hospital drama Pulse, was confirmed by her management in a statement on Thursday.
"It is with great sorrow that her family wish to advise that the much-loved Penny Cook, beloved partner, mother, daughter, sister, and dear friend, died peacefully last night, of cancer, surrounded by family," the statement read.
"The family wish to express their thanks for all messages of condolence forwarded to them."
Cook was propelled into the Australian consciousness via A Country Practice, in which she played vet Vicky Dean from 1981-1985.
